A woman from Thu Duc City in Ho Chi Minh City is facing a fine of VND10-12 million (US$412-494) and a driver’s license suspension for driving a BMW at a speed of up to 140 kilometers per hour.
Police officers in Thu Duc City identified N.T.D.M., a 26-year-old local resident, as the driver filmed speeding in a BMW in the Sala urban area in a video that went viral on Facebook on Monday.
At times, the speedometer showed a velocity of up to 140 kilometers per hour in the footage.
M. claimed that she was conducting a speed test as part of her job as a sales representative for a BMW car dealership.
She stated that the video, recorded and posted in September, has since been widely shared by many individuals.
Upon investigation, police determined that M. had committed the traffic violation on Nguyen Co Thach Street in An Loi Dong Ward, Thu Duc City.
The location of the offense, a residential road, has a speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour.
According to the traffic police, M. is subject to a fine of VND10-12 million and a driver’s license suspension for two to four months for “driving a car at a speed exceeding the prescribed limit by over 35 kilometers per hour.”
The vehicle involved has also been impounded for seven days.
