Ho Chi Minh City has witnessed a significant rebound for tourism in 2023, as shown by official figures.

The number of international visitors to the city is expected to exceed five million this year, a 44.3-percent increase over the same period in 2022, attaining 100 percent of the target for 2023, according to statistics from the municipal Department of Tourism.

Domestic visitor arrivals in the city are expected to top 35 million, a 12-percent year-on-year climb, meeting 100 percent of the target for the entire year.

Total tourism revenue is projected to reach VND160,000 billion (US$6.6 billion) in 2023, a 22-percent year-on-year rise, equal to 100 percent of the target for the year.

In 2023, the Department of Tourism collaborated with the Department of Information and Communications to proactively launch the operation of Hotline 1022 – Extension 8.

This hotline serves to assist visitors in acquiring information about tourist destinations, culinary experiences, new tourism products in the city, as well as providing promotional updates about destinations, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment areas within the city.

In such cases, the hotline operators will suggest appropriate solutions, guide tourists to connect with relevant authorities for assistance and resolution, and, if necessary, coordinate with personnel, including specialists from the Department of Tourism, to directly assist the tourists in liaising with the relevant agencies.

It is incredibly simple to call Hotline 1022 – Extension 8. To reach the hotline operator, tourists can dial 1022 and then press extension 8.

For calls from other provinces or mobile networks, tourists should dial the 028 area code, followed by 1022 and finally extension 8.

If they call the hotline after hours or during peak times when all hotline operators are occupied, the system will activate the voicemail feature, saving the message in the voicemail box.
