-- The national weather center on Saturday morning issued a smog advisory for the northern part of Vietnam, including Hanoi, advising people to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from poor air quality.
-- Police in Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam announced on Friday that they have pressed charges against an additional 47 suspects for allegedly involving in the country’s largest loan shark ring worth more than VND20 trillion (US$824.4 million). They had earlier cracked down on the racket in July last year and prosecuted 54 foreign and Vietnamese suspects.
-- Two local students drowned in a reservoir in Duc Hoa District, Long An Province, southern Vietnam on Friday after they joined two others for bathing in the lake the same day, according to local police.
