Five family members in a car just suffered slight injuries after the vehicle fell into an abyss which is some 70 meters deep in Dien Bien, a mountainous province in northern Vietnam.
Information and images of the accident surfaced on social media on Sunday.
A post on social media said that the car was deformed after the fall.
“It’s a miracle as all five members of our family got out of the crumpled car with only scratches. No one suffered bone fractures or serious wounds,” according to the post.
A representative of a local traffic rescue team said they had pulled the car from the 70-meter-deep abyss in Nam Po District, Dien Bien Province.
“The accident happened on April 30. We did not know the cause, but all five family members luckily got out of danger after the car fell into the abyss,” the rescuer added.

A leader of the administration in Phin Ho Commune, Nam Po District told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Sunday afternoon that the crash occurred at over 12:00 pm on Tuesday last week, when the car driven by D.V.D., a 37-year-old resident in Thai Nguyen Province, also in northern Vietnam, was carrying his wife and three children from Nam Po to Dien Bien Phu City, Dien Bien Province.
The vehicle was damaged but the five people just suffered scratches and did not need to visit hospitals, the leader of the Phin Ho Commune People’s Committee informed.
The accident happened as the driver fell asleep and failed to control the vehicle, the official added.
