-- A fire broke out at a five-storey boarding house in Trung Hoa Ward under Cau Giay District, Hanoi in the wee hours of Friday, leaving 14 people dead and three others injured, a local police official told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper at 6:49 am.
-- An official from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism affirmed at a press briefing on Thursday that the number of visitors to many of the city’s food streets such as Ho Thi Ky and Nguyen Thuong Hien has soared.
-- Toll collection for Cam Lam - Vinh Hao Expressway, which connects Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, and Binh Thuan Provinces in south-central Vietnam, will start on May 28. The highest toll for the entire 78.5-kilometer route is VND497,000 (US$19.4) per vehicle, Cam Lam-Vinh Hao Expressway Joint Stock Company announced on Thursday.
-- The State Bank of Vietnam on Thursday announced an inspection into four gold firms, namely Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), DOJI Gold & Gems Group Joint Stock Company (DOJI), Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ), and Bao Tin Minh Chau Company, and two banks, including TPBank and Eximbank, for their gold trading activities.
