Vietnamese police are investigating a mysterious case in which two foreigners have been found dead from unknown causes in separate rooms at the same guest villa in central Vietnam.
On Monday, police in Hoi An City, central Quang Nam Province reported that Otteson Greta Marie, a 34-year-old British woman, and Els Arno Quinton, a 36-year-old South African man, were found lifeless on December 26 in their respective rooms at the Hoa Chuong tourist villa in Cam Thanh Commune.
The villa’s staff discovered the deaths at 11:18 am and immediately reported them to the provincial police department, which deployed forces to examine the scene.
Initial reports indicated no signs of scratches or external force on the bodies of the foreigners, who were discovered lying on their beds.
Personal belongings, such as cellphones, were untouched, and there were no signs of vandalism in the rooms.
Police collected several empty liquor bottles from both rooms for further analysis.
The provincial police have questioned witnesses and scheduled autopsies to determine the cause of death.
Investigators have yet to release further details as they continue to understand this mysterious case.
