-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the 15th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions, which will take place in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, China, and have working sessions from Monday to Thursday next week, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement.

-- The U.S. respects Vietnam as the Southeast Asian country itself can decide how to ensure its sovereignty and national interests, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Kritenbrink said during a press conference in Hanoi on Saturday afternoon.

-- The dredging of the Bac Lieu River in the namesake Vietnamese province had affected 34 houses as of Saturday, with three of them falling into the river, the provincial government said on Saturday.

-- Police in Da Nang City, central Vietnam have broken up an online gambling ring with transactions exceeding VND1 trillion (US$39.3 million), arresting 12 suspects.

-- A 27-year-old Russian traveler expressed her gratitude to a Vietnamese man for returning her lost backpack, which she had accidentally dropped while traveling in central Vietnam. She also thanked local police for their efforts in recovering the backpack, stating that she was touched and impressed by their dedication.

-- Police in Ha Dong District, Hanoi arrested a suspect for allegedly smashing the windows of nine cars parked on the sidewalks in front of an apartment complex in the district in the wee hours of Monday, police officers told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Saturday.

-- The Ministry of Transport has announced that Lien Khuong Airport in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong is now an international airport and began receiving international flights from Saturday.

-- State-run Vietnamese lender Vietcombank has a plan to sell gold bullion via an app to allow buyers to make cashless payments for gold purchases, the bank’s leader said during a meeting between the central bank and gold sellers on Friday.

-- “Greek authorities arrested 13 yacht crew members and passengers on Saturday after fireworks launched from the vessel allegedly sparked a forest fire on the island of Hydra,” according to Reuters.
