-- A rider narrowly escaped death when the rear of his jet ski exploded at Hong Van beach in Co To District, Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam earlier this week, local authorities confirmed on Friday.
-- Police in Binh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam are investigating the cause of death of a man whose body was discovered floating face down, showing signs of decomposition, in a water tank at a petrol station in Ham Thuan Nam District on Friday.

-- The People’s Committee of District 1 has reported to the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on the results of a 50-day pilot project collecting fees for temporary use of roadbeds and sidewalks from 9:00 am on May 9 to 5:00 pm on June 28, expecting to collect over VND1 billion (US$39,343).

-- Kien Long Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Kienlongbank), based in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang, announced on Friday the dismissal of Tran Thi Thu Hang from her position as chairwoman, citing personal reasons. Tran Ngoc Minh, vice chairman, will assume the role of chairman of the board of directors, effective July 9, succeeding Hang.
