-- Six Vietnamese people died of poisoning at a Bangkok hotel on Tuesday evening. Investigators identified the deceased as two Vietnamese individuals with U.S. nationality and four Vietnamese nationals, the Bangkok Post reported.
-- A massive whale was spotted hunting for food in the waters off the coast of Binh Dinh Province in south-central Vietnam on Monday afternoon. Many local inhabitants who caught sight of the mammal estimated the whale to be around eight meters in length and two metric tons in weight.
-- A 32-year-old woman and her three children, aged 9-13, were killed after being hit by a van when she was taking the kids on a motorcycle to her workplace in suburban Hanoi on Tuesday. The van had earlier collided with a big truck before crashing into the mother of three.
-- Some 700 visitors who had been stranded on Nam Du, an island off the coast of Kien Hai District in southern Kien Giang Province, for almost four days due to poor weather conditions returned safely to the provincial city of Rach Gia on Tuesday afternoon, a local official confirmed the same day.
-- More than 800 traffic-related accidents left 223 people dead and 539 others injured in Ho Chi Minh City in January-June. Compared to the same period last year, the number of accidents and deaths fell by 15 and 129, respectively, while that of injured people rose by 83, according to a report recently released by the local Department of Transport.
