Ho Chi Minh City will host the inaugural traditional fish sauce festival which will run across five days and feature 150 booths showcasing iconic fish sauce products from different regions in Vietnam.
The Food and Foodstuff Association of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the Vietnam Traditional Fish Sauce Association and many other agencies will organize the event from October 23 to 27 at 141 Nguyen Hue Street in District 1.
The festival is meant to honor fish sauce as one of Vietnam’s greatest culinary treasures while promoting it to both local and international markets.
With the participation of diplomatic agencies, chefs, and international culinary experts, the event is expected to open up opportunities for Vietnam's traditional fish sauce to reach global markets, paving the way for the country to build a national brand.
In addition to the 150 exhibition booths, the festival will feature activities that delve into the history and production process of traditional fish sauce.
These activities will highlight the heritage value of fish sauce craft villages and underscore the importance of fish sauce in Vietnamese culinary culture and daily life.
Festival-goers can also explore an interactive space at the event to gain a deeper understanding of how traditional fish sauce is made.
The festival will also showcase innovations in fish sauce production and technology and offer dishes that spotlight fish sauce as an essential ingredient, providing visitors with a unique and flavorful experience.
Moreover, several dialogues and forums featuring top experts from the culinary world and the fish sauce industry will be held as part of the festival.
