Three high school students were taken to a hospital in Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province, central Vietnam for health checks after smoking a vape on campus, a local education official confirmed on Monday.
The incident took place a few days ago when three 12th graders from Nguyen Hue High School began experiencing unusual health symptoms in class, including fatigue, difficulty breathing, and pale skin.
They were taken to the school's medical office for an assessment before being sent to a local hospital where doctors provided necessary care, including measuring blood pressure for the trio.
The students elaborated that they had felt extreme fatigue after vaping.
After receiving medical care, they gradually recovered and returned to school.
A leader from the provincial Department of Education and Training said that the school had reported the incident to a police agency that is investigating the contents and origin of the e-cigarettes.
The education department had already issued a directive at the beginning of this academic year, urging schools to educate their students about the dangers of vaping and prevent them from using e-cigarettes.
Following this incident, the department will issue additional guidance to schools to bar student vaping.
