-- Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son extended an invitation to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to visit Vietnam in 2025, the year marking the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-U.S. diplomatic ties, in a letter of congratulations on the latter’s appointment on Tuesday.

-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino Quintero in Davos on Tuesday (local time), within the framework of the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum and his bilateral activities in Davos, Switzerland.

-- Vietnam supports international mediation efforts aimed at achieving a lasting peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with the participation of all relevant parties, in line with international law and the United Nations Charter, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told President Volodymyr Zelensky during their short meeting in Davos on Tuesday.

-- A tractor-trailer caught fire, and shortly after, a chain-reaction crash involving four container trucks, a 16-seat passenger van, a truck, and a car occurred on the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway to Dong Nai Province early Wednesday morning, resulting in a traffic jam that stretched for dozens of kilometers up to the An Phu intersection in the southern metropolis.

-- The Prime Minister approved on Tuesday the master development plan through 2040 for Thu Duc City as a class-1 city of Ho Chi Minh City, dividing it into nine key zones.

-- Starting Thursday, passengers can take free shuttle buses to an external taxi staging area at Tan Son Nhat International Airport during the busy Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) travel season, thanks to a collaboration between the airport, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, Southern Airports Authority, and bus operator Phuong Trang.

Travel

-- Vietnamese visitors can stay in Belarus without a visa for up to 30 days per entry, with a maximum stay of 90 days within a year, starting January 30, according to the visa exemption agreement for common passport holders between Vietnam and the European country. Belarusian citizens will benefit from the same conditions when visiting Vietnam.

-- Khanh Hoa Province welcomed its first international cruise ship of 2025, the Marshall Islands-flagged Oceania Riviera, which brought 1,200 tourists to Cam Ranh International Port on Tuesday.

-- Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club, based in Gia Lai Province in the Central Highlands, re-signed Brazilian forward Washington Brandao on Tuesday to compete starting from Round 11 of V. League 1 2024-25.
