A suspected food poisoning incident at a Ho Chi Minh City high school led to the hospitalization of five students who presented at a local hospital with vomiting and abdominal pain following their lunch on Thursday.

At around 3:00 pm on Thursday, Sai Gon General Hospital was informed by the 115 Emergency Center of several probable food poisoning cases at Le Quy Don High School, Vu Duc Nhan, deputy head of the hospital’s general planning department, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper the same day.

The emergency team took these five students, including one 11th grader and four 12th graders, to the hospital where they received fluids and pain-relief medicines.

Their condition eventually stabilized and their vomiting and abdominal pain dissipated.

The hospital conducted tests as directed by the city’s Center for Disease Control and continued to closely monitor the five students, all of whom were diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis.

They were discharged from the hospital on Thursday evening to continue recovering at home upon their parents’ requests.
