-- The government of Japan has announced a US$2 million contribution to the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations Children’s Fund to support Vietnam’s critical relief and early recovery efforts after typhoon Yagi, the Vietnam News Agency cited the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam as saying. Typhoon Yagi, which made landfall in northern Vietnam early last month, killed more than 300 people and caused damage estimated at $3.31 billion across the region.
-- Police in Trang Bom District, Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam are investigating a pig farm with some 2,000 pigs over its suspected illegal operations and release of untreated wastewater into the environment, officers reported on Saturday.

-- The administration in Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam has requested the provincial Department of Tourism to employ solutions to reach a target of 3.3 million tourists this quarter, including some 900,000 international travelers.
