-- The eighth session of the 15th-tenure National Assembly of Vietnam opened on Monday morning, starting the process of electing a new state president.

-- Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, handed over promotion decisions to Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang and Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Tan Cuong from the rank of Senior Lieutenant General to General during a ceremony in Hanoi on Sunday.

-- A Vietnamese maritime search and rescue vessel swiftly transported a critically ill Chinese crew member from a Liberian ship en route from Singapore to China to shore for emergency medical treatment on Sunday evening.

-- The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense of Da Nang City in central Vietnam has issued a warning about widespread heavy rain from Sunday to Thursday morning. They urged authorities and residents to remain vigilant against flash floods, landslides in mountainous regions, and flooding in low-lying and urban areas.

-- Bitexco Group has officially transferred all of its stake in Saigon Glory, the developer of the One Central HCM project situated in the Ben Thanh quadrangle. This prime location is surrounded by four main streets Pham Ngu Lao, Pho Duc Chinh, Le Thi Hong Gam, and Calmette, and overlooks the iconic Ben Thanh Market. The stake was sold to a real estate company based in Hanoi.

-- Kingsky Media Events JSC has proposed that the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province in Vietnam’s Central Highlands support the organization of the country’s largest hot-air balloon festival, featuring 25-30 giant hot-air balloons, in Da Lat City next month.

-- Vuong Thi Huong from Hanoi was crowned Miss Business Earth 2024, surpassing 19 other contestants at the event held in Phan Rang-Thap Cham City, Ninh Thuan Province, in south-central Vietnam on Sunday evening.

-- Nearly 600 pets were brought by their owners to the second Pet Perfect Festival 2024, held at the Suoi Tien Theme Park in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday.
