Lots of residents in Da Nang City, central Vietnam found their commute to work an ordeal on Tuesday morning, as prolonged rainfall from the wee hours of the day caused severe flooding across low-lying areas.
By 7:00 am, water levels on such roads as Yen The, Bac Son, and the vicinity of the central bus station reached halfway up vehicle wheels.
A series of motorbike riders and car drivers who intended to head toward the city center for work had to take alternate routes owing to the severe inundation.
Several motorcycles and cars attempted to wade through flooded areas but eventually stalled in deep water.
As of 7:30 am, flooding around Da Co Canal and Me Suot Street brought water levels nearly up to the bridges spanning the canal, prompting many residents to prepare for potential evacuation.
Some neighborhoods were submerged in knee-high water, making it difficult for residents to enter and exit their homes.
Localized flooding also affected some residential areas in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, forcing car owners to move their vehicles to higher ground.
