Authorities recovered the body of a young man, believed to be a foreign national, from the Hoai River in Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam on Tuesday afternoon.
Speaking to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, the owner of a restaurant near the scene said that a cyclo (pedicab) driver found the body floating in the river at around 2:00 pm the same day.
Police and other officials quickly arrived to cordon off the scene, retrieve the body, and initiate legal procedures.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described the victim as a young man in his 20s and suspected he was a foreigner.
The discovery has drawn significant public attention, as earlier the same day, social media platforms were flooded with posts about a foreign tourist who went missing during an outing with friends in Hoi An.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
