A plastic bag containing 1,517 drug pills was found drifting to the Quang Ngai coast in central Vietnam on Saturday, bringing the total to over 3,000 drug pills discovered there in just one day.
Border guards in Quang Ngai Province reported on Sunday that a 74-year-old local man, Pham An, discovered a plastic bag containing white pills with a strong odor while collecting scrap along a beach in Binh Chau Commune, Binh Son District the day before.
The bag was found inside a plastic box. After inspecting it, An left the bag on the beach and continued his activities.
On Saturday evening, An heard his neighbors dicussing the discovery of thousands of drug pills in Binh Tri Commune, also in Binh Son, so he reported his findings to the Binh Hai Border Guard Station.
The border guard station later cooperated with local police to collect the drug pills, numbering 1,517.
The drugs were later identified as MDMA following a quick test.
