A sleeper bus driver faces a VND2.4 million (US$94.5) fine and a two-month license suspension after being caught on camera steering with his elbow while using his phone on Hanoi-Ninh Binh Expressway in northern Vietnam.
Traffic police announced on Thursday that they had fined N.X.K., a 42-year-old driver from Nghi Loc District in the north-central province of Nghe An, for violating traffic laws.
At 4:07 pm on Tuesday, K. was driving a sleeper bus on Hanoi-Ninh Binh-Thanh Hoa Expressway toward Thanh Hoa Province when he was caught steering with his elbow and using his phone with both hands.

Traffic police officers identified K.’s two violations: using a mobile phone while driving and failing to wear a seatbelt.
Police also noted that at the time, dozens of passengers were aboard the bus, and the driver’s actions were seen as a clear disregard for their safety.
Vietnamese traffic law stipulates a VND2.4 million fine and a two-month driver’s license suspension for such violations.
