Police in Thanh Hoa Province, north-central Vietnam have arrested six suspects who stole and sold approximately 250 dogs, weighing nearly four metric tons, in a single month starting early December.

The police agency of Tho Xuan District on Monday announced the arrest of these six suspects, including Do Ngoc Duong, 30; Nguyen Van Phuong, 30; Trinh Dinh Tuan, 28; Nguy-en Tat Khoa, 28; Ha Xuan Huy, 37; all natives of Tho Xuan.

Le Dinh Hung, 29, from Trieu Son District, was also arrested for buying stolen dogs.

During the raid, police seized 19 live dogs weighing 323kg, two cats weighing 3.5kg, and tools used in the thefts. 

The gang confessed that they had stolen and sold an average of 200-250kg of dogs per night.

The suspects also admitted to stealing around 250 dogs since early December, then selling them to Le Dinh Hung for profit.

Police are expanding their investigation into this dog theft ring.
