Vietnam will introduce a visa-free policy for tourists from Poland, Czechia, and Switzerland beginning March 1, allowing stays of up to 45 days, the government announced in a recent resolution.

The policy, aimed at boosting inbound tourism, will remain in effect until December 31, 2025 and applies only to travelers on organized tours arranged by Vietnam's international travel agencies.

To qualify for 45-day visa-free entry, visitors must meet entry requirements under Vietnam’s unilateral visa exemption policy, including holding a passport valid for at least six months and providing a certificate confirming their participation in a registered tour program.

Tour operators organizing trips for tourists from these three countries must register with the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) and hold a valid international travel service business license.

This policy is being implemented to attract more international tourists from these markets to Vietnam and enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism globally through incentive policies, convenient entry procedures, and unique travel experiences.

Currently, Vietnam grants 45-day visa exemptions to citizens of 13 other countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, South Korea, and several Nordic nations.

These markets are among Vietnam’s largest sources of international visitors, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

To support the new visa policy, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has launched a comprehensive tourism promotion program for 2025.

This initiative includes promotional activities in Poland, Czechia, and Switzerland to highlight Vietnam’s top travel destinations.

Furthermore, Vietnam will host ‘Vietnam Culture - Tourism Week’ in Poland and Czechia to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with these nations.

This is the latest move by the government to promote tourism and attract visitors from key international markets to Vietnam.

On August 15, 2023, Vietnam began issuing electronic visas (e-visas) to citizens of all countries and territories entering the Southeast Asian nation through 13 international airports, including Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Cam Ranh, Da Nang, Cat Bi, Can Tho, Phu Quoc, Phu Bai, and Van Don, among others.

Vietnam welcomed nearly 17.6 million international tourists in 2024, a 39.5-percent jump from 2023, reaching 97.6 percent of pre-pandemic levels.

South Korea remained the top source market, with 4.57 million visitors, a 27-percent increase from 2023.

For 2025, Vietnam aims to attract 22-23 million foreign visitors, surpassing pre-pandemic levels, while domestic tourism is expected to reach 130 million travelers, according to VNAT.
