As Vietnam will encounter Thailand in their Group G opener of Asia’s second qualifying round for the 2022 FIFA World Cup tonight, September 5, here is how to watch the game live from Vietnam.

The Southeast Asian archrivals will challenge each other at the Thammasat Stadium in Bangkok at 7:00 pm (Vietnam time).

In Vietnam, the match will be broadcast live on different channels and cable networks, including K+PM, VTC1, VTC2, VTC3 and VTC9, and national television channel VTV5, so anyone can watch it in the comfort of their home.

To enjoy a livelier atmosphere, supporters can visit pubs, clubs, coffee shops, restaurants and many other venues, where big screens will be installed to serve football-loving customers.

In Ho Chi Minh City, it is common for public screenings to be organized for such major games of the national team.

On this particular occasion, a mass screening of the World Cup qualifier between Vietnam and Thailand scheduled to take place at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1 was canceled at the last minute due to copyright issues.

The event organizers, professional football club Ho Chi Minh City FC, announced the cancelation on Wednesday, to the disappointment of football aficionados.

The mass screening was scrapped as Next Media, the copyright owner, and Ho Chi Minh City FC could not reach an agreement on the broadcast fee and sponsorship.

But the game will still be screened at Rubik Zoo at 1 Bis Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, District 1 and Trong Dong Stage at 12B Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, District 1.

Some 1,700 Vietnamese supporters will cheer for the Golden Stars live at the Thammasat Stadium in the Thai capital tonight.

Malaysia and Indonesia will take on each other in the other Group opener at 7:30 pm.

The group consists of the four Southeast Asian teams and the UAE.

After the match against Thailand, Vietnam will play the other four games during the Asian section of 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification by year-end.

The Golden Stars, who are Southeast Asia’s football champions after winning their second AFF Cup last year, are to be in high spirits to advance to further qualifying rounds during this World Cup campaign.
