Hanoi to host Vietnam’s first LGBT bridal fashion show next week

Friday, May 08, 2015, 18:34 GMT+7

A bridal fashion show for LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) people will be organized in Hanoi next week.

Titled “Happy Color,” the event will be the first of its kind in Vietnam and feature wedding costumes specially designed for LGBT people by Caroll Tran.

It is the kick-off show of a namesake non-profit fashion project launched by Tran, aiming to showcase creative and applicable works of talented designers as well as create a playground for fashion lovers.

Members of the local LGBT community will strut on the runway to highlight the designs Tran has created for six months.

The clothes then will be auctioned to help disadvantaged LGBT couples to start their career.

“Happy Color” will also boast the performances of local artists including singer Uyen Linh, DJ Slim V, Kick Off and Da Lab bands, as well as favorite faces from the LGBT community like BB Tran and Cherry Minh Ngoc.

Famous musician Luu Thien Huong will be the show’s music director.

Speaking about the event, Tran said that her project will showcase fashion collections for a better society.

“This is a non-profit show with the meaning of providing people with a new perspective on happiness, marriage, and family,” newswire VTC quoted Tran’s statement. “It also offers a positive perspective to parents whose children are LGBT people.”

Besides the runway performance, the event will include a series of activities, such as displaying collections of photos on LGBT and screening videos about the life of LGBT people.

The “Happy Color” show will take place on May 16 at Quan Ngua Stadium in Ba Dinh District.
