Vietnam launches photo, video contest to showcase national achievements globally

The Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications launched the ‘Happy Vietnam’ photo and video competition on Thursday, aiming to promote Vietnam’s accomplishments across various domains through the diverse perspectives of individuals from both domestic and international backgrounds.

The competition’s theme focuses on Vietnam’s progress in socio-economic development, cultural values, and its people’s resilience in the modern era, according to a press release issued by the Authority of Foreign Information Service under the ministry.

It is meant to disseminate virtuous human values, compassion, and community care for individuals from all walks of life, with a focus on the principle of inclusivity.

From the submitted entries, the organizers expect to gather a vibrant collection of images and videos showcasing the diverse and captivating aspects of Vietnam, providing everyone, regardless of their location, with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the everyday beauty of various regions across the Southeast Asian country.

Furthermore, this event presents a unique chance for individuals of Vietnamese origin residing abroad and foreigners from around the globe to engage in an enriching exploration of Vietnamese culture, fostering a deeper connection with the nation and its people as they collaborate toward the shared goal of building a joyful and prosperous Vietnam.

The contest, open to unlimited entries, also seeks to shape the image of a contented society through the fresh and unbiased perspectives of both local and international experts and enthusiasts alike.

Awards worth more than VND400 million (US$17,000) will be granted by the organizers, including two top prizes valued at VND100 million ($4,250) each, two second prizes worth VND30 million ($1,275) each, two third prizes worth VND20 million ($850) each, and 20 consolation prizes, among others.

Participants aged 15 and above can find detailed information about the contest and submit their photos and videos online at https://happy.vietnam.vn from June 15 to September 15, 2023.

On this occasion, the Authority of Foreign Information Service under the Ministry of Information and Communications officially put into operation the external information portal vietnam.vn to promote images of the country after a trial period.
