More than 450 MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) tourists from an Indian insurance firm arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday, beginning their five-day trip to the southern Vietnamese metropolis.
The city’s tourism sector and the Hanoi-based Asia Destination Management JSC (Asia DMC) jointly hosted a reception for the MICE tour group the same day.
These MICE tourists attended a conference at a convention center in the city on Saturday evening.
During their stay in the city, the MICE group will explore popular tourist attractions, including the War Remnants Museum, the Saigon Central Post Office, Ben Thanh Market, and Cu Chi Tunnels, as well as enjoy Vietnamese and Indian food at some restaurants.
Suhash Chandar, general manager at Asia DMC, said Vietnam is one of the most favorite destinations among Indian and Chinese visitors.

To woo more MICE tour groups, Vietnamese cities need to develop more shopping centers and facilities, as the number of shopping and entertainment services in Vietnam remains lower than that in neighboring Thailand and Singapore, he said.
During the first seven months of this year, more than 2.3 million international tourists visited Ho Chi Minh City, up over 208 percent against last-year figures and reaching 47.2 percent of the city’s target, according to statistics from the municipal Department of Tourism.

The southern city served over 18.6 million domestic visitors during the given period, rising 40 percent year on year, and booked VND93.5 trillion (US$3.9 billion) in tourism revenue, up 55 percent against last year and reaching 58.5 percent of its target.
MICE tourism with speedy recovery post-pandemic made significant contributions to the city’s tourism growth, said a municipal tourism official.
The city identified MICE tourism as one of the seven travel products that need further boosts in its tourism development strategies, said Nguyen Cam Tu, director of the municipal Tourism Promotion Center.
The city’s tourism department also introduced its MICE tourism policies that offer many incentives to attract MICE tourists.
