Dragon statues are being erected in public places in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam, capturing the attention of locals and tourists, as the Lunar New Year holiday, commonly known as Tet, is approaching.
Statues of dragons have been displayed on large streets, such as Tran Phu, Hoang Hoa Tham, and Tran Hung Dao, in front of restaurants, hotels, and major trade centers.
Among the statues, the 'carp jumping the dragon gate' statue at Yen Phi Park, where a Tet flower festival is taking place, is especially impressive.
The lower part of the statue has carp moving upward, while the upper part is a meticulously sculpted dragon.

Pham Vinh Nghiep from Nha Trang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company said workers were completing the decoration of the park. Besides statues of dragons, the park will feature coracles and ships.
Meanwhile, craft villages in Nha Trang are busy creating small dragon statues as souvenirs.
Pham Thi My Le, the owner of My Oc center in Vinh Phuong Commune, Nha Trang City, said workers were hurriedly making handicrafts from conch.
Dragon-shaped handicrafts sell like hot cakes. They are priced at VND70,000 (US$2.9) each, Le informed.

In Truong Son craft village located in Vinh Nguyen Ward, Nha Trang, two dragon statues stand at an impressive height of nearly 4.5 meters and measure 10 meters in length each. These statues are crafted from synthetic plastic fibers.
Le Nguyen Ai Quynh, the manager of the craft village, said the two statues were completed in two months.
The craft village also has a model of a gliding dragon with 54 sections, representing 54 ethnic groups, and a length of 63 meters, representing 63 localities in Vietnam.
It took over a month to complete the model.
Le Nhu Thao, a visitor from Hanoi, said she had seen many dragon statues but she was impressed by the large handmade dragon model in the craft village.
The craft village also creates small dragon models from Japanese clay and Vietnamese rice flour.
