Da Lat City, a popular tourist site in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, is hosting the maiden Vietnam Classical Music Festival, which runs until Sunday.
The week-long festival features the participation of over 100 local and international artists
They are set to stage 17 performances held by the Vietnam Youth Music Institute and Vietfest, an international company founded in Vietnam to run big-scale entertainment and culture projects.
A live concert and a painting exhibition taking place at Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort & Spa raised the curtain on the festival on Sunday.
On the same day, famed local opera singers performed in a concert at Pho Ben Doi Creative Studio.

The fest is scheduled to take place at four locations and play host to some paid events.
Meanwhile, the majority of free-of-charge programs during the fest are being organized at public places to treat locals and tourists.
Among the highlights of the fest is a trio, called Song Hong Trio in the Flower Town, a Beethoven piano solo, and a concert titled Sunset.
The festival is aimed at bringing classical music to all corners in the city, from narrow spaces and streets to parks, to help audiences gain easy access to this type of music.

Alongside Hoi An City under Quang Nam Province in central Vietnam, Da Lat was named among new global creative cities by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in late October last year.
Accordingly, the highland city became a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for music.
The fest is meant to promote the city's efforts to preserve and develop different music genres.
Established in 2004, the UNESCO Creative Cities Network aims to boost cooperation between certified cities, moving toward sustainable development in economy, society, and environment.
The network recognizes seven creative fields: crafts and folk art, design, film, gastronomy, literature, media arts, and music.
