‘Mot con vit’, or ‘One Little Duck’ in English, made history on Saturday night as Vietnam’s first-ever music video on YouTube to reach one billion views.
The song, meant for kids, overtook a series of hit songs performed by famed local singers such as My Tam, Son Tung MT-P, Jack, Ha Anh Tuan, and Hoang Thuy Linh to get the title.
The earworm, posted by Heo Con Channel on YouTube on August 31, 2019, clocked the one-billion-view milestone at midnight the same day, getting 2.2 million likes.
As of Sunday morning, Heo Con Channel had 5.48 million followers.
The ‘Mot con vit’ song was composed by songwriter Kim Duyen and performed by Xuan Mai, who was three years old when she sang it.
With its catchy tune, the song is beloved by many generations of children. The video depicts a white mother duck and her five yellow babies.
In the over-four-minute video, the ducks dance and walk in a garden and swim in a pool. The adorable baby ducks seem to attract kids.
Therefore, ‘Mot con vit’ has become a tool to encourage Vietnamese kids to eat during their meals.
Heo Con Channel on YouTube has some 40 videos, mainly kids’ songs. Each of these videos lasts for fewer than five minutes and has got from millions to hundreds of millions of views.
Apart from ‘Mot con vit,’ many other kids' songs have got a thumping number of views.
Among them are ‘Bong bong bang bang,’ performed by Bao Ngu and having reached 608 million views, and ‘Thuong lam thay co oi,’ sung by Phan Hieu Kien with 505 million views.
‘A con ca sau,' or ‘Ahhh the Crocodile,’ performed by several famous singers has reached 665 million views on YouTube. The video is meant to teach kids the alphabet.
