Many people and tourists visited the beach of Nhon Hai Commune in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province, south-central Vietnam to see sea turtles hatching and making their way to the sea earlier this week.
During Tuesday night’s viewing, 12 baby sea turtles hatched, a local official told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Wednesday.
This is the second batch of sea turtle hatchlings to have hatched at the beach in Nhon Hai Commune.
These eggs were laid by the mother sea turtles around the end of May and early June.
Since early Tuesday evening, many adults, children, and tourists have gathered at the beach in Nhon Hai Commune, eagerly waiting to witness the moment when the tiny baby turtles hatch and make their way through the sand to the sea.

When the first turtle hatchlings emerged from the sand on Tuesday night, there was an outpouring of excitement and cheers from the crowd.
Children, in particular, were captivated, applauding joyously at this sight.
“I was truly impressed and filled with joy seeing the turtle eggs hatch,” Nguyen Duy Khoa from Quy Nhon City shared his first experience of enjoying this special event.
“Anyone who sights this moment will surely learn to cherish and protect nature.”

Nguyen Ton Xuan Sang, head of the community group for protecting aquatic resources in Nhon Hai Commune, explained that turtle eggs typically hatch at night and make their way to the water’s edge to begin their journey to the sea.
“After news spread of the turtle hatching, people and tourists flocked here in large numbers,” Sang said.
“Everyone stayed up all night to be part of this special event.
“There were curiosity, excitement, and tears of emotion as we assisted these beautiful sea turtle hatchlings in their crawl to the sea.”

Sang also noted a significant shift in the community’s awareness as people in Nhon Hai Commune are now more conscious of not littering the sea.
“I believe this experience will continue to raise awareness about preserving a green, clean, and beautiful environment so that turtles have a safe place to nest, ensuring that future generations can also witness these incredible moments,” Sang added.
