A field along Nguyen Thi Danh Road in the suburban district of Hoc Mon, Ho Chi Minh City has been a gathering place for kite fyiers and people watching the aerial display on recent weekends.

The field, located about 20 kilometers from the city center, attracts participants from all walks of life for kite flying, a popular activity in Vietnam from March through the summer.

Some of them remarked that the wind conditions have been favorable for kite flying in recent days.

Nearby, a number of vendors sold kites of various designs and sizes.

The colorful kites, shaped like eagles, Lotso Bear, Hello Kitty, and many other fictional characters, filled the sky while groups of people relaxed on tarps and blankets, enjoying snacks and bringing along their pets.

Some street vendors capitalized on the kite flyers by offering fried fish balls, soft drinks, cotton candy, and peeled fruits.

Pham Anh Ngan’s family, prompted by an acquaintance’s recommendation, said they found solace in the cool air and the sight of kites flying over the field.

“Taking the children outdoors for some fresh air is better than staying at home with the phone on,” Ngan said.

Meanwhile, Minh Hai, another kite flyer, emphasized safety precautions, opting for open locations to fly kites and personally managing the activity for his child.

He urged parents to be vigilant, keeping children away from potential dangers like power poles and residential areas.
