Ho Chi Minh City celebrates International Children's Day

Activities and programs honoring the International Children's Day (June 1) are taking place across Ho Chi Minh City from Thursday through the weekend.
Among the activities being held to celebrate the occasion are a book garden program at the zoo, a southern fruit festival at Suoi Tien Theme Park in Thu Duc City, and several theatrical performances.
Fees waived for children at Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens
In honor of the International Children's Day, the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens in downtown Ho Chi Minh City allows children under 1.3 meters tall to enter and participate in activities free of charge.
The zoo has also opened a book garden so that children can enjoy an outdoor reading space surrounded by over 1,000 children’s books.

Southern fruit fest opens in Thu Duc City
A southern fruit festival at Suoi Tien Theme Park in Thu Duc City will kick off on Friday and last to the end of August.
A wide range of fruits native to the southern region, such as mangosteens, mangoes, and green grapefruits, are expected to be showcased at the event. Various fruits from other parts of the country will also be on display.
Aside from the fruit festival, Suoi Tien Theme Park offers free admission to children on June 1.
The park is also offering a 50-percent discount to students certified as excellent in the 2022-23 academic year.

Kids Fest 2023
The Children’s House of Ho Chi Minh City is organizing Kids Fest 2023 from Friday to Sunday featuring mosaic and pottery making workshops, summer camping activities, films, and a digital playground.
There will also be a crawling race for children between six and 11 months old.
Other programs include fashion design activities, bottle decoration, calligraphy, and sculpting.
Dam Sen Park offers free entrance tickets to excellent students

Dam Sen Park is offering free entrance tickets to and lowering all-in tickets by 50 percent for students certified as excellent and guests whose birthdays fall in June, July, or August.
The park will also unveil ice sculptures and a water-based art display made by artists from Harbin, China, also known as the 'Ice City,' on June 10.

Theater artist Thanh Loc is set to perform a tale called Nang Cong Chua va Chiec Ao Tam Gai at Ben Thanh Theater in District 1.
The play, which centers on a princess weaving shirts from stinging nettles to save her older brothers who are turned into swans by a wicked fairy, is scheduled to be staged in June and July.

Another children’s play performed by artist Huynh Lap is scheduled at Truong Hung Minh theater in District 10 on June 1.
This drama, called ‘The Secret of the One-Hundred-Knot Bamboo,’ is about a man’s journey to find a stick of bamboo with 100 joints in order to offer it as a dowry to a wealthy family.
On the same day, a series of plays for kids will be performed at Thanh Nien Theater at the Youth Culture House in District 1.
Children in the city can also enjoy circus performances at Gia Dinh Park in Phu Nhuan District and water puppetry shows at the Ho Chi Minh Museum of History in District 1.
