Four Indian Naval ships with about 1,200 officers and crew members on board landed at Tien Sa Port in Vietnam’s central Da Nang city on Tuesday, starting a four-day friendship visit to the city. Belonging to the Eastern Indian Fleet that is headed by Rear Admiral Ajit Kumar, the Fleet Commander, these ships include Stealth Frigate INS Satpura (F48), Fleet Tanker INS Shakti (A57), Rajput Class Destroyer INS Ranvijay (D55), and Kora Class Corvette INS Kirch (P62). Before arriving in Da Nang, these ships had joined a joint exercise with the Malaysian Navy and paid a friendship visit to the Philippines. During their stay in Da Nang, the Indian officers and crew members will have intimate meetings with the city leaders, visit the Cham Museum, and visit and give gifts to the Da Nang Street Children Sponsoring Center. The Indian guests will take part in music and sport activities and professional exchange sessions with officers and staffs from Military Zone 5 and High Command of Naval Zone 3. In addition, the Indian ships will also invite the representatives of the Indian community in Da Nang, a number of city officials and disadvantaged children to get aboard the ship for sightseeing. The visit of these ships is aimed at strengthening the friendship relationship between the Navy forces of Vietnam and India in particular and the peoples of the two countries in general, Rear Admiral Ajit Kumar P said.
