Ground was broken Saturday on a vacation resort in Cao Bang Province that borders China’s Guangxi Province, according to state-owned travel company Saigontourist, the Ho Chi Minh City-based developer.

Tran Hung Viet, Saigontourist CEO, said that the Saigon-Ban Gioc resort is located in Trung Khanh District’s Dam Thuy Commune, where renowned Ban Gioc Waterfall is located.

It costs VND170 billion (US$8.2 million) to build the property on a 31.15 ha site, Viet said, adding the 4-star development will have a hotel with 60 bedrooms, 24 bungalows, a restaurant able to serve 200 diners, a convention center for 200 delegates, a sports area, spas, entertainment sections, and other facilities upon completion.

The first phase of the project is expected to be finished and come on stream at the end of this year.

This is part of a cooperation program between Ho Chi Minh City and Cao Bang.
