A Vietnamese airline willingly compensated passengers whose flight was delayed for multiple hours due to bird strikes on Monday.

The Jetstar Pacific flight BL350 was scheduled to take off at 1:50 pm on Monday for a return flight to Ho Chi Minh City, after landing in Dong Hoi Airport in the central province of Quang Binh 40 minutes earlier.

However, upon landing in Dong Hoi, one pilot found the plane showed signs of a collision with birds.

The airline immediately dispatched engineers from Ho Chi Minh City to the Quang Binh airport, where qualified technicians and maintenance equipment were unavailable, to look into the issue, according to a Jetstar representative.

The plane was confirmed to be airworthy and departed at 6:00 pm the same day.

During the four-hour delay, affected passengers were served free meals and received VND300,000 ($13) in recompense each.

The incident caused a chain delay to some of the company’s other flights on the day.
