As many as 150 Indian enterprises will take part in a trade and investment cooperation conference which will be held in Dong Thap Province, southern Vietnam for the first time between Tuesday and Thursday next week.
The People’s Committee of Dong Thap Province on Tuesday held a press briefing to provide information about the conference.
The conference is aimed at introducing the potential and images of Dong Thap, its people, the environment, and investment opportunities in the province to attract Indian investors, said Nguyen Phuoc Thien, vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.
In addition to the conference on the trade and investment cooperation between India and Dong Thap, the Indian delegation will participate in many other activities, such as the International Yoga Day 2023, meetings between enterprises to build the cooperation in trade, investment, tourism and information technology, and practical visits.
For the first time, some 150 Indian enterprises in the agriculture, agricultural engineering, food processing, seafood, information technology, and tourism sectors will join the conference, said Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City.
“I believe that the event will mark a turning-point in the mutual cooperation and bring positive results in the coming time," the Indian consul general said.
“Trade between Vietnam and India reached US$15.1 billion in 2022 and [the figure] is forecast to amount to $20 billion by 2025.
“We expect Dong Thap to dispatch high-skilled laborers to India to learn about mango processing experience.
"If [Indian] enterprises can open processing factories in Dong Thap, the province will become a new mango processing center in Vietnam."
