Two direct air routes connecting Da Nang City in central Vietnam and Guangzhou and Hong Kong in China were resumed after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The VN-549 charter flight of national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines with 200 passengers on board flew from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China to Da Nang International Airport on Monday night.
Vietnam Airlines will operate three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays on the route, using Airbus A321 aircraft.
These flights will depart from Guangzhou at 9:40 pm and land in Da Nang at 22:55 pm.
The air route reopening is a positive signal for Da Nang’s tourism, whose main source market is China.

A day earlier, budget air carrier Vietjet Air reopened a direct air route from Da Nang to Hong Kong.
The airline will operate four return flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays on the route.
Earlier, air routes linking the central Vietnamese coastal city to Macau and Taiwan had also been resumed.
Vietnamese airlines operated many direct air routes between Da Nang and Chinese localities, such as Chengdu, Shanghai, Xi'an, Hebei, and Hunan, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many of them will be reopened this year, according to Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation JSC.
Da Nang welcomed 3.5 million tourists in the first half of this year, including 930,000 international guests, a 11.3-fold year-on-year increase, and 2.57 million domestic travelers.
International visitors stayed in the city for over two days each on average.
