The People’s Committee of District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City plans to invest in food and beverage (F&B) services in order to spur its night-time economy, a district official said at an event held on Wednesday to introduce the F&B Networking Fair 2023 slated for later this month.
District 1 has submitted a plan to the municipal People’s Committee to adopt initiatives aimed at developing its night-time economy, said Nguyen Duy An, vice-chairman of the local People’s Committee.
The plan is part of the district’s efforts to shore up economic activities following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Residents and tourists have changed their habits, requiring tourism service providers to update their business plans, according to An.
District 1 is joining hands with enterprises to develop new products to attract domestic and foreign travelers, particularly those interested in night-time services.
Studies showed that F&B services account for up to 90 percent of night-time services.
Surveys targeting international tourists indicated that the F&B sector in District 1 is among the city’s major tourism draws.
However, according to the district vice-chairman, there is no plan to gather these services into an ecosystem.
Restaurants and eateries are far from each other and fail to provide visitors with seamless experiences.
The night-time economy cannot develop without F&B services. F&B enterprises in the district are diversified and have received attention and high evaluations from tourists, the district official affirmed.
Therefore, the district hopes to further enhance the sector’s development through the F&B Networking Fair 2023, An noted.
The F&B Networking Fair 2023, set to take place from August 25 to 27 at the District 1 Sports Center, will feature exhibitions, as well as the sale and promotion of F&B goods and services.
The event will also include seminars where enterprises, experts, and policymakers can share their experience and discuss solutions to connect ecosystems in the sector, the application of technology to small and medium F&B enterprises, and basic knowledge in startup operations.
District 1 is currently home to many high-quality restaurants and eateries, offering attractive opportunities for F&B enterprises to make investments and cooperate in order to develop business.
Among the 103 restaurants in Vietnam honored by Michelin Guide, 29 are in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
