Vietnam’s Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City air route continued to rank fourth among the top 10 busiest domestic flight routes in the world this year, according to statistics from OAG, the world's leading provider of digital flight information, intelligence, and analytics for airports, airlines, and travel tech companies.

This is the second straight year that the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route has secured fourth place.

The number of seats for this route sold between October 2022 and September 2023 reached over 10.8 million.

A representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also said the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route is the busiest domestic one in 2023 with nearly 43,000 flights operated, equivalent to 17.5 percent of the country’s total number of domestic flights and 22 percent of total volume of domestic passengers.

This route also ranked sixth in the world in 2019.

According to OAG, the busiest domestic airline route of 2023 is Jeju-Seoul in South Korea with 13.7 million seats, followed by the Hokkaido’s Chitose Airport-Tokyo Haneda and the Fukuoka-Tokyo Haneda in Japan.

As for the top 10 busiest international air routes in 2023, three of them are connected with Singapore Changi Airport and three others are linked with South Korea's Seoul Incheon.

Nine of the routes in the top 10 busiest international routes are in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, while the remaining route from London Heathrow to New York is the only one to see its capacity above the 2019 level.
