Premier Foods, one of the UK's largest food producers, is recalling three whey products in Vietnam due to concerns of potential plastic contamination, as announced by the Vietnam Food Safety Authority (VFA) under the Ministry of Health.

The VFA said that Premier Foods is recalling three whey products – Ambrosia My Mini Custard Pots, Ambrosia My Mini 30% Less Sugar Custard Pots, and Ambrosia My Mini Rice Pots – based on information from the British Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The FSA has issued a warning due to the potential presence of plastic, which poses a choking hazard and renders these products unsafe for consumption.

The VFA reported that the three products, with expiration dates ranging from April to October, have been imported into Vietnam through Bac Nam International Service Company Limited and An Phuc Nguyen Company Limited, both based in Hanoi and serving as distributors for Premier Foods.

As per the VFA, the three products may currently be available for sale in various retail outlets, including those specializing in products for mothers and babies.

The agency advises consumers to refrain from using these whey products and to promptly alert local authorities if they come across them in the market.

The VFA has communicated all pertinent recall information to the Ministry of Industry and Trade's Department of Science and Technology.

The department has been requested to identify the three products in the market, oversee the recall process initiated by Premier Foods, and regulate the importation of these items.
