Residents and visitors are invited to come to Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City later this week for two events under one roof – Cashless Day Festival and Shopping Season – to explore the most popular payment trends and to get a rewarding cashless shopping experience.

The festive atmosphere has been felt across the pedestrian street since Thursday morning, as operators of banks, credit institutions, and businesses were adding the finishing touches to their booths at the festival, scheduled to take place from Friday through Sunday.

Vietcombank, a state-run local bank, set up a passenger bus-shaped booth with many curved details, which were said to be trendy this year, according to Le Manh Cuong from a company in charge of the Vietcombank booth construction.

Cuong told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that it took his company almost one month to finalize the design of the highly sophisticated pavilion.

Lam Truong Nhat, an employee at Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB), informed Tuoi Tre that the bank's booth contractor had to work tirelessly to finish the booth on time.

Nhat explained that this year, the ACB booth will showcase adorable mascots that align with the bank's business strategies.

Duc Kien Anh from fintech company VNPAY also came to the event venue early on Thursday morning to supervise the construction of the VNPAY booth.

Visitors to the VNPAY booth this year are encouraged to take part in the fintech service provider’s banh mi festival, which is considered the highlight of VNPAY at the 2024 Cashless Day Festival.

Customers can buy breadsticks offered by VNPAY at only VND1,000 ($0.03) each by making QR-VNPAY code payments.

VNPAY wants customers to experience the convenience of non-cash payment via the banh mi event, during which the company is set to sell some 500 breadsticks from Saturday evening through Sunday morning, Anh added.

With the theme ‘Promoting the Development of Safe Cashless Payments,' the 2024 Cashless Day Festival is among a series of events supporting the 2024 Cashless Day (June 16), gathering commercial banks, ecommerce companies, intermediary payment service providers, businesses majoring in fashion, food, consumer products, and utility firms.

The initiative is spearheaded by Tuoi Tre in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade and the Payment Department of the State Bank of Vietnam.

The event will feature 82 booths for product and service display, including pavilions for online public services, a sales area accepting cashless payments, and food booths.

Aside from exploring new payment methods, festival-goers can enjoy music performances featuring popular Vietnamese singers including Phuong Vy, Luu Huong Giang, Ricky Star, and Trong Hieu between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm during the festival.

The event series will also include the Shopping Season program set to last from June 15 to September 15 at most of the trade centers and supermarkets in the southern metropolis.
