The Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information, part of the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications, has requested that two foreign companies, which violated Vietnam’s advertising laws, comply with the country’s regulations on cross-border advertising.
The two companies, RTB from Singapore and Dailymotion from France, has displayed the advertisements for P/S toothpaste and Clear and Tresemmé hair care products from Unilever Vietnam International Company Limited, and Coca-Cola soft drinks from Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam Ltd. Co. on cross-border platforms like Nguoi-Viet.com and Dailymotion.com.
The placement of these ads is in violation of Vietnamese advertising laws.
The authorities stated that such violations undermine brand safety and the reputation of the businesses owning these trademarks.
Consequently, the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information has demanded that the two companies cease these violations immediately and implement effective management measures to prevent recurrence.
They must also adhere to Vietnamese regulations when providing cross-border advertising services in Vietnam.
The companies are required to proactively prevent and remove advertisements that breach Vietnamese laws and ensure that all ads are not placed on unlawful content.
They must also enhance their inspection, monitoring, and filtering processes to uphold legal standards.
Additionally, the authority recommends that RTB and Dailymotion refer to the white and black content lists to safeguard brand integrity in Vietnam.
