Kim Hoang Quang Nam, an aquaculture company in Thang Binh District, Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam, on Monday handed over 2.5 million Mebi One shrimp post-larvae to its Taiwanese partner for export to the territory.

After being raised on a trial basis at Taiwan-based shrimp farms for over a year, the Mebi One shrimp post-larvae have met the growth criteria and expectations of farm owners.

Kim Hoang Quang Nam and its partner Yong Sing Seafoods Co. Ltd. then signed a commercial agreement to ship Mebi One shrimp post-larvae to the Taiwanese market.

At the signing ceremony, Yong Sing Seafoods placed an order for 2.5 million Mebi One shrimp post-larvae worth US$10,000, with the value expected to reach $300,000 in the 2024-25 period.

This is believed to pave the way for Mebi One shrimp post-larvae to enter more demanding shrimp markets in Asia.

Mebi One shrimp post-larvae are produced at Kim Hoang Quang Nam’s 8.5-hectare facility in Thang Binh’s Binh Nam Commune, with an annual output of five billion shrimps.

Huynh Cong Tuan, board chairman of Kim Hoang Quang Nam Company, stated that their partnership with Yong Sing Seafoods to ship Mebi One shrimp post-larvae to Taiwan will help introduce Vietnam’s high-quality shrimp post-larvae to more Taiwanese consumers.

This collaboration is also expected to open up further cooperation opportunities in the future.
