Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City are investigating a video in which four young men carry a coffin in front of Ben Thanh Market in District 1.
The video has been circulating since Sunday on social media. It shows four young men carrying a coffin along several streets near Ben Thanh Market.
The four young men, dressed in black, carry a black coffin with 'Die Everyday' written on it, walking in the middle of traffic lanes.
The group sometimes walked on the roadbed of Le Lai Street, where traffic was heavy, causing public frustration.
A traffic police officer in Ho Chi Minh City said their actions fall under charges of "pedestrians carrying bulky items that obstruct traffic," which carry a fine of VND400,000-600,000 (US$15.7-23.5).
A source of Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper confirmed that the Ben Thanh traffic police unit was collaborating with relevant authorities to investigate and summon those involved for questioning.
A representative from the administration in District 1 told Tuoi Tre that the individual who posted the video on TikTok was T.M.T., born in 2002, residing on Le Quang Sung Street in District 6, Ho Chi Minh City.
The video was released to promote a fashion line on Lam Thi Ho Street in District 12.
Local police are still probing into the incident.
