All three members of the Vietnamese team competing at the 2023 International Biology Olympiad won medals, including one silver and two bronzes, the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training announced.
The silver medal went to Nguyen Tien Loc, an 11th grader from High School for Gifted Students of the University of Science under the Vietnam National University-Hanoi.
The two bronze medals were secured by Tran Pham Manh, a 12th grader from High School for Gifted Students of the University of Science under the Vietnam National University-Hanoi, and Vu The Anh, a 12th grader from Vinh Phuc High School for Gifted Students in the namesake northern province.
This year’s International Biology Olympiad, held in the United Arab Emirates from July 2 to 11, drew the participation of 295 students from 80 nations and territories.
Contestants took four practical tests and two theoretical exams.
The achievements of the Vietnamese students continue to affirm the quality of Vietnam’s education as well as efforts of students and teachers, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.
The ministry will welcome the Vietnamese team back and congratulate them on their accomplishments at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on Wednesday.
