Asia-Pacific broadcasting assembly running in Hanoi

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU)’s 50th General Assembly, which is running in Hanoi from today till Oct 29, will see experts address various issues, including how to shape the broadcasting industry in the digital era.

The ABU TV Song Festival will also take place at Hanoi Opera House at 8pm on Oct 26.

The festival will see the participation of singers and bands from 15 countries, including S.Korean girlband Sistar, celebrated Thai singer-VJ Kandy, Japanese diva May’n and winner of the 2nd The Voice Hongkong Mag Lam.

Rock band Ngu Cung and young singer Van Mai Huong, runner-up of 2010 Vietnam Idol will represent Vietnam at the festival.

Founded in 1964 as a non-profit, non-government, professional association to assist the development of the regional broadcasting industry, the ABU, which has more than 255 member broadcasters across the region’s 63 countries, promotes the interests of television and radio broadcasters and encourages co-operation among them.
