A book fair in Ho Chi Minh City, set to run from Mar 24 to 30, will showcase Vietnam’s first book vending machines.

The 8th HCMC Book Fair, to be held at Le Van Tam Park in district 1, will feature the two machines, which are put on by the Tre Publisher. One more will be placed at the company’s headquarters.

The Internet-connected machines, which operate like vending machines with packaged foods and drinks, boast updated information and remote controlling function. The books, which bear authors’ autographs, will be ejected once money is inserted.

Tre Publisher said that they also plan to launch the machines at airport terminals and schools.

The fair will showcase over 20 million books, including latest ones, and a host of reading-related activities for book lovers.
