A newly-made Vietnamese film has won its very first prize at an international film festival in China, the producer and distributor announced on Sunday.

“Toi Thay Hoa Vang Tren Co Xanh” (Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass), a Vietnamese film by Victor Vu, was named the winner of “Features Films of 2015” at the Silk Road International Film Festival in Fujian Province on September 26.
The film is based on a novel of the same name, written by Nguyen Nhat Anh, a best-selling author whose books are read by many young Vietnamese readers.
“Toi Thay Hoa Vang Tren Co Xanh,” to be screened in local cinemas starting October 2, tells the story of two brothers who live happily together in a coastal village in the late 1980s.
They later compete with each other to win the affection of the same cute, little girl.

Since the release of its trailer four months ago, the film has received huge appreciation not only because of its content but also thanks to the stunning, peaceful, greenish landscapes which depict perfectly the beauty of Vietnam.
"After the screening in Fuzhou City, many Chinese viewers came to me, holding my hand and saying the film had impressed them as the storyline reflects their childhood,” Vu told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
"I'm glad to see the film win a big prize. But the most important thing to me is how it will be embraced in Vietnam,” he added.
The annual Silk Road International Film Festival was organized for the first time in 2014.
This year, it took place from September 22 to 26 and attracted the participation of representatives from 76 countries, including Russia, India, South Korea, Vietnam, and Egypt.
