Tuesday, December 15, 2015, 15:47 GMT+7

People will be able to enjoy pyrotechnic performances to celebrate New Year at two spots in Ho Chi Minh City.

The local People’s Committee has issued a document to competent authorities on organizing fireworks shows to welcome the year 2016.

The performances will take place at two locations, including one high-range fireworks display in the area near the Thu Thiem Tunnel in District 2 and a smaller-scale performance at Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11, according to the document.

The fireworks celebrations will commence at midnight on New Year’s Eve and will last for 15 minutes.

All expenses for the performances will be funded by the private sector, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

Competent authorities will be in charge of controlling traffic and prohibit vehicles from entering the areas within a 500 meter radius.

The fireworks displays will also be broadcast live on Ho Chi Minh Television.
