Authorities in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa have decided to publish the prices of local hotels online in an effort to create a more professional tourism environment.
According to Luyen Manh Cuong, director of the provincial Tourism Promotion Information Center, all hotel prices are now available on the website nhatrang-travel.com.
The decision, made by the Khanh Hoa People's Committee and Department of Tourism, is expected to be embraced by visitors seeking transparency in terms of hotel costs, and will provide them with a standardized service.
With prices now public, tourists will be able to select and book hotels based on their own demand and budget, as well as comparing and giving feedback to local authorities if the actual price is higher than published on the site.
The data, updated by the Khanh Hoa Department of Finance on a weekly basis, will also serve as evidence to help authorities handle pricing violations, especially during peak travel seasons.
The province currently has over 610 hotels with around 20,000 rooms.
