Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang arrived in Phnom Penh on Tuesday afternoon, at the start of his state visit to Cambodia after concluding his trip to Laos on the morning of the same day.

President Quang’s visit, scheduled from June 14 to 16, was at the invitation of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, with the official welcome ceremony scheduled to be organized on Wednesday morning, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The head of state, First Lady, and the delegation of elite Vietnamese officials were warmly greeted at the airport by high-ranking Cambodian officials as well as Vietnamese citizens residing in the country.

Upon arriving in Cambodia, the president paid a visit to the Embassy of Vietnam and representative offices of Vietnamese agencies, as well as the Vietnamese community, businessmen, and students living and working in Cambodia.

He praised the accomplishments of staff members of the embassy and other Vietnamese agencies in contributing to the enhancement of the Vietnam-Cambodia traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation.

The embassy has been providing the necessary assistance for Vietnamese investors and businesses operating in Cambodia, and it has also been attentive to the wishes of Vietnamese citizens there, according to President Quang.

Addressing the Vietnamese community, the head of state hailed their efforts and contribution to Cambodia’s national development and to the relationship of the two nations.

Sharing the difficulties the people have been facing, the president asserted that he would present all of their wishes and recommendations to Cambodian leaders in order to provide them with more favorable living and working conditions.

He expressed his hope that Vietnamese people will unite, support each other, strictly follow the host country’s law and make further contributions to the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship.

During the meeting, the state leader also presented US$20,000 to the embassy’s study encouragement fund and another $20,000 to the foundation that supported Vietnamese Cambodians.

Prior to his trip to Cambodia, President Quang conducted a state visit to neighboring Laos from June 12 to 14, during which he joined talks with his Laotian counterpart Bounnhang Vorachith and met with Vietnamese businesses in the country.
